Wayne Major is Vice Chairman for Campaigning of Erewash Conservative Association, a role he has held since September 2026. He has served as Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Conservative Group on Erewash Borough Council since 2023, and as Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group at Derbyshire County Council since May 2025.
Wayne lives in Sandiacre with his wife and family and represents the village on both Erewash Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council, also representing Risley and Ockbrook on the County Council. His community involvement has also included serving as Chairman of Sandiacre Parish Council, a governor at Cloudside Academy and a trustee of two local charities.
Proud to call Sandiacre home, Wayne believes elected representatives should have strong roots in the communities they serve. He is passionate about good local schools, safe neighbourhoods and opportunities for the next generation. Tackling traffic congestion and opposing changes that would place further pressure on Sandiacre’s roads are among his local priorities.
As Vice Chairman for Campaigning, Wayne helps coordinate the Association’s campaigning activity, working with councillors, candidates and volunteers to engage with residents across Erewash. His role includes supporting local campaigns, organising campaign activities and helping the team prepare for elections.
