This Wednesday (5th September), as part of her commitment to help support business and employment in Erewash, local Member of Parliament Jessica Lee will hosts her inaugural Erewash Jobs Fair at Long Eaton’s, Novotel on Bostock’s Lane, between 10am and 3pm.This free event will include a wide range of exhibitors who will be on hand throughout the day to provide information on jobs, skills training, apprenticeships as well as offering real job and career opportunities. In addition to larger employers such as Roll-Royce, Bombarbier and JD Weatherspoons, local Erewash firms including TecQuipment, Derwent Analytics and Rayden Engineering will all be exhibiting on the day and looking to recruit.  

Green Flag Award for Victoria Park

Victoria Park in Ilkeston has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag status for the second year running confirming it as one of the best parks in the Country.


Erewash MP Jessica Lee has today called on her constituents to support Carl and Darren Travis, two inspirational brothers who are organising a fundraising and awareness day for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan on Friday 27th July at Ilkeston Football Club. 


Starting off Learning Disability Week on Monday 18th June, Jessica went along to an event organised by Mencap, which is raising awareness of disability hate crime.  The event also highlighted the positive progress that has been made since the launch of Mencap’s ‘Stand By Me, campaign last year; of which Derbyshire Police is one of the 34 forces, which have signed up to the campaign to promise and formally commit to supporting people with a learning disability and increase hate crime convictions. As many as 9 out of 10 people with a learning disability have been a victim of hate crime and bullying.

Jessica Lee MP Welcomes MOD Announcement

Member of Parliament for Erewash Jessica Lee has welcomed the announcement that Derby based global power systems manufacturer Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract worth £1.1bn to produce new reactor cores for the UK’s next generation nuclear-powered submarine fleet.The deal, which is part of plans to replace the Vanguard class submarine, will secure up to 300 jobs and fund the refurbishment of the firm's Raynesway facility in Derby.

New classroom project for Sandiacre School

Conservative led Derbyshire County Council are set to fund a £290,000 project that will see four new classrooms built at Friesland School in Sandiacre.

Swimming the channel in aid of local school

 On 30th June 2012, a group of Sawley residents will be taking part in a team sponsored swim. The group, which includes Cllr Daniel Walton and Cllr Mrs Jo Bonam are planning to swim the distance of the channel to raise money to replace the school playground equipment at Sawley Infant and Nursery school.
