Erewash MP Jessica Lee has today called on her constituents to support Carl and Darren Travis, two inspirational brothers who are organising a fundraising and awareness day for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan on Friday 27th July at Ilkeston Football Club. 


Starting off Learning Disability Week on Monday 18th June, Jessica went along to an event organised by Mencap, which is raising awareness of disability hate crime.  The event also highlighted the positive progress that has been made since the launch of Mencap’s ‘Stand By Me, campaign last year; of which Derbyshire Police is one of the 34 forces, which have signed up to the campaign to promise and formally commit to supporting people with a learning disability and increase hate crime convictions. As many as 9 out of 10 people with a learning disability have been a victim of hate crime and bullying.

Jessica Lee, Member of Parliament for Erewash has attended this year’s Stanton Bonna Health & Safety Awards and presented a charitable donation from the firm to local charity, When You Wish Upon A Star.

Jessica Lee MP Welcomes MOD Announcement

Member of Parliament for Erewash Jessica Lee has welcomed the announcement that Derby based global power systems manufacturer Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract worth £1.1bn to produce new reactor cores for the UK’s next generation nuclear-powered submarine fleet.The deal, which is part of plans to replace the Vanguard class submarine, will secure up to 300 jobs and fund the refurbishment of the firm's Raynesway facility in Derby.

New classroom project for Sandiacre School

Conservative led Derbyshire County Council are set to fund a £290,000 project that will see four new classrooms built at Friesland School in Sandiacre.

Swimming the channel in aid of local school

 On 30th June 2012, a group of Sawley residents will be taking part in a team sponsored swim. The group, which includes Cllr Daniel Walton and Cllr Mrs Jo Bonam are planning to swim the distance of the channel to raise money to replace the school playground equipment at Sawley Infant and Nursery school.    

Positive CPF Discussions helping to shape future policy

Monday 28th May saw the fourth Erewash Conservative Policy Forum Meeting in Ilkeston. The meeting was based on the topic of Health Care and Housing for Older People. A group of mixed ages from all corners of the Conservative Community met to discuss the topic at the Manor Health and Raquet Club in Ilkeston.ECA Deputy Chairman (Political & Campaigning), Richard Harris said: "It is great to see people engaging in CPF discussions, it is good to get the oppinion of so many different areas of the community. After all thats what make such a rounded policy."

Erewash Conservatives Launch new Twitter Feed

The Erewash Conservative Association have today taken another step in a bid to keep the electorate better informed by launching a new twitter feed. ECA Deputy Chairman (Political & Campaigning), Richard Harris said: "As Chairman of the local CF branch and Area CF Chairman, I have been on twitter for a few years now and realised its campaigning potential some time ago. Although Twitter will not be used directly for campaigning, it is a great way of getting the Conservative name out there and telling the world what Erewash Conservative Association is doing."
