Jessica Lee, Member of Parliament for Erewash has attended this year’s Stanton Bonna Health & Safety Awards and presented a charitable donation from the firm to local charity, When You Wish Upon A Star.
Stanton Bonna, who are based in Stanton-by- Dale, are a leading UK manufacturer of concrete and glass fibre reinforced plastics products; serving amongst others, the water, road, rail and housing industry. The awards ceremony, which is held every year, aims to reward staff for identifying possible Health and Safety risks, which they encounter in their day to day roles with the company. The company is then able to take measures to prevent risks from becoming a reality, reducing accidents significantly.
Jessica Lee commented:
“The incentives for employees to report risks have really made a difference to potential Health and Safety issues, in a sector which has historically had a high incident rate. It really is a win: win scenario. I was delighted to be asked to draw and present, first, second and third prizes; which were a choice of electrical goods including a TV and Ipad. The company also donate £1 per risk reported to charity and it was an honour to present the cheque to ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’, who were Stanton Bonna’s chosen recipient for 2012”.
Following the awards, Miss Lee was given a tour of the Stanton Bonna site, by Chief Executive Barry Cooper.
