Erewash Conservative Association has elected its new officer team for 2026/27 following a Special General Meeting held last week.

Members met on Friday 11 September to elect a refreshed team which will lead and support the Association as preparations step up for the important 2027 local elections and beyond.

The Association’s officer team for 2026/27 is:

  • President – Robert Parkinson
  • Chairman – Cllr Robert Flatley
  • Deputy Chairman Political & Campaigning - Gerri Hickton
  • Deputy Chairman Membership and Fundraising- Val Custance
  • Vice Chairman Political – Garry Hickton
  • Vice Chairman Campaigning – Cllr Wayne Major
  • Vice Chairman Membership – Howard Blackburn
  • Vice Chairman Fundraising – Donna Briggs
  • Treasurer – Cllr Ben Hall-Evans

The position of Deputy Treasurer remains vacant, and any member interested in finding out more about the role is encouraged to contact the Association office.

The new team brings together a considerable range of experience from across the Association, local government and previous election campaigns.

New Chairman Cllr Robert Flatley will work with officers, councillors, members and volunteers to strengthen the Association, increase campaigning activity across Erewash and ensure the local Party is well prepared for the challenges ahead.

The Vice Chairmen will each have a particular focus within the Association. Garry Hickton and Cllr Wayne Major will support the Association’s political and campaigning work, while Howard Blackburn will focus on engaging with current members and encouraging new people to join the Party. Donna Briggs will lead efforts to develop the Association’s programme of fundraising activities and events.

The management team will continue to be ably supported by June Parkinson MBE, the Association’s Office Manager, who plays an important role in supporting the Association and its members as we move into the 2027 local election campaign and beyond.

With the 2027 local elections now firmly on the horizon, the new team is looking forward to working with members and supporters from across Erewash to build a strong, active and effective local Conservative Association.

The Association would like to place on record its sincere appreciation to retiring officers Tony King, Cllr Val Clare, Maggie Throup OBE and Tony Morris for the time, commitment and experience they have given to Erewash Conservative Association. Each has made a valuable contribution to the life of the Association, supporting members, campaigning locally and helping to guide its work over a number of years. Their service has been greatly appreciated, and members will no doubt join in thanking them for everything they have done. Although they are stepping back from their officer roles, the Association hopes to continue benefiting from their experience, support and involvement in the years ahead.

Erewash Conservatives would like to thank everyone who attended the Special General Meeting and all those who continue to give their time to support the Association, our councillors and our local campaigns.
