Councillors Working Together to Assist the Duchess Theatre

Erewash Borough Councillors Kewal Singh Athwal and Michael Powell worked together to support The Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton with a £500 Grant to enable the management committee to install new safety handrails in the balcony and purchase 3 tables to provide additional seating capacity.

Mike Beedham Trustee of The Duchess Theatre Said:

“On behalf of the Management committee for the Duchess Theatre Long Eaton, I wish to pass on our thanks to you for nominating us to receive your discretionary £500 Grant award.

The joint application by Cllr Athwal and Powell has resulted in us being able to install additional safety rails and also 3 replacement dining tables, for community use”

EBC Cllrs Kewal Singh Athwal and Michael Powell said:

"We are both aware of the good work that the management committee does in managing the Duchess Theatre for the benefit of our residents. Performers of all ages, both male / female have delighted audiences over many years, and we hope this will continue. We are both delighted that we could make a small contribution of £500 from our EBC grant allocation to assist the Duchess Theatre"
